This Privacy Policy explains how we process information about you on textoolshub.com (the “Site”). By using the Site, you acknowledge that such processing will be carried out in accordance with this Privacy Policy. See also our Terms of Service, Imprint, and Contact page.
Our contact details
- Name: TextTools
- Responsible for content: TextTools site operator
- Email: contact@textoolshub.com
1. Types of personal information we collect
Depending on how you use the Site, we may process:
- Cookies and similar technologies — for essential preferences, and (if you accept) advertising and analytics
- Server log data — such as IP address, browser type (user agent), requested pages, and timestamps
- Contact information — if you email us (your address and message content)
- Browser storage — theme, cookie consent, and similar local preferences (on your device only)
We do not receive or store the text you type into our tools for counting or analysis; that processing happens locally in your browser (see below).
2. Text you enter in tools
Counting, syllable analysis, readability scores, and similar features run entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. The text you type or paste is not uploaded to our servers and is not stored by TextTools.
3. Local storage on your device
We may store the following in your browser’s localStorage:
- Theme preference (light or dark mode)
- Cookie consent choice (accept or reject non-essential cookies)
- A one-time privacy hint flag
No personal text content is saved in local storage.
4. Fonts and third-party CDNs
Typography is served from self-hosted Inter font files (woff2) on the same origin (css/fonts.css, fonts/). We do not load fonts from Google Fonts.
When you upload a .docx file, a pinned library may load from jsDelivr (with Subresource Integrity) to extract text locally. Syllable tools may load a pinned dictionary module from jsDelivr via js/syllable-bridge.js. These requests do not include your text content.
5. How we obtain information and lawful basis
We obtain information automatically when you use the Site (cookies, log files, and similar technologies) and when you contact us directly.
We may also receive information from third parties such as analytics providers, advertising networks, search partners, and technology vendors that help us operate, secure, and monetise the Site.
We use this information to operate and improve the Site, deliver tools, measure performance, display advertising (where accepted), and keep the service secure. Our lawful bases under the GDPR typically include:
- Legitimate interests — operating, securing, and improving the Site, and preventing abuse
- Consent — non-essential cookies, advertising, and analytics where required
- Contract / pre-contractual steps — responding to your requests when you contact us
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data by law
6. Third-party analytics and advertising
Analytics: We may use analytics services (such as Google Analytics or similar tools) to understand how visitors use the Site. If enabled, these services may set cookies or use similar technologies. We will request consent where required before enabling non-essential analytics.
Advertising: We may display ads through Google AdSense or other ad partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this Site or other sites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our and other websites.
- Opt out of personalized ads: Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info, Your Online Choices (EU).
- Google partner sites policy: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Non-essential advertising and analytics run only if you accept cookies in our banner (or where law allows without consent). If we use a consent or monetisation platform, we will name it here and link to its policy.
7. Data storage and retention
Information processed through our hosting and service providers may be stored in the United States and other countries where our hosting providers operate.
Server logs: Standard access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps, and requested URLs) are retained for up to one week and then deleted or anonymised automatically, unless a longer period is required for security investigations or legal compliance.
Email correspondence: Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and for reasonable record-keeping.
Browser storage: Remains on your device until you clear it.
8. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against accidental loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include HTTPS for transport security, access controls on hosting accounts, integrity checks on third-party scripts where feasible, and limiting retention of log data. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your data protection rights
Under applicable data protection law (including the GDPR and UK GDPR), you may have the following rights:
- Access — request copies of your personal information
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure — request deletion in certain circumstances
- Restriction — request limited processing in certain circumstances
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances
- Data portability — receive data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format where applicable
You are not required to pay a fee to exercise these rights. If you make a request, we generally have one month to respond. Email contact@textoolshub.com with the subject line “Privacy request”.
You may also complain to your national data protection authority if you are unhappy with how we use your data.
10. California privacy (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents may have additional rights regarding personal information, including know/access, delete, correct, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Reject non-essential cookies in our banner, use the opt-out links in section 6, or email contact@textoolshub.com with “Do not sell or share my personal information” or “California privacy request”. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
11. Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact contact@textoolshub.com if you believe a child has provided personal data.
12. International transfers
Data may be processed in countries outside your own (including the United States). Where required, we rely on safeguards offered by our providers (such as standard contractual clauses) as described in their documentation.
13. Translations and governing language
The governing language of this Privacy Policy and related legal documents is English, unless otherwise required by law. Translations are provided for convenience only; if a translation conflicts with the English version, the English version prevails.
Available languages:
Planned translations: Deutsch, Türkçe, Italiano. Until those pages are published, the English version below is the only binding text.
14. How to complain
If you have concerns about our use of your personal information, contact us at contact@textoolshub.com. We will try to resolve your concern. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
16. Contact
Questions about this policy: contact@textoolshub.com or Contact. We aim to respond to privacy and support requests within 30 days (or sooner where the law requires, typically one month for GDPR requests).
