Assignments often state a strict word minimum or maximum. Counting in your editor is fine, but a dedicated counter avoids surprises after paste or export.
When the rubric mentions pages, convert words to pages with typical academic settings.
Tips
- Count the body only if the rubric excludes title page and bibliography.
- Leave a small buffer (≈2–5%) under the max in case the grader’s tool counts differently.
- Double-space drafts change page count but not word count.
